The Blank Pages of 2019

Tiny Tapestry Books.

Who knew?
Picture
Not me.

But perhaps the tapestries did.

Woven side by side last July

they refused to be parted.

Four Selvedge Tapestries,
(spindle spun linen, silk, cotton and wool).

Scraps of  Washi
and Reeves Lightweight printing paper.

 Coptic Binding,
Spindle spun linen thread
(coated with beeswax from my Aunt's old hive).

Business as usual, I suppose--

the materials dictating what I do--
my job merely to listen--
then dive in--
even if I have no idea what or why.

Sometimes it is a little unsettling.

But ultimately,
I cannot resist.

May your book of 2019,
be filled
with  surprise,
and kindness,
and  joy in the unexpected.

hmm... 6 gloriously coptic bound signatures, 10 pages (120 sides) times 3 equals almost a kazillion adventures ahead for 2019, Super cool Sarah! hmmm.... what big adventures, inked and colored and stitched between the sheets of paper within those "tiny tapestry houses". Beautifully clever, and the skirt instructions zine : ) Happy New Year Sarah!

Oh, my golly, your books are so beautiful and sweet. I can almost feel them in my hands. The smallest book I ever made was with postage stamp covers, enclosing a family letter. I so look forward to seeing your entries. I know they will be delightful.

You've persuaded me. I'm learning Coptic binding this month from someone who makes beautiful books because it's just so lovely that I couldn't stand not knowing. Happy, happy new year. cheryl

Perfect! And perfectly inspiring! I can’t wait to get back to my little copper loom and 4-selvedge experiments after a holiday-related detour!
