My son has a new truck

9/27/2016

Picture
New to him, anyway--
Picture
though it might be more accurate to say that the truck has been newly liberated
Picture
from where it has been resting for nearly thirty years.
Picture
It could not, alas, make the break under its own power
Picture
particularly as only two of the wheels would turn--
and even that after a fair bit of persuasion.
But no matter.
Picture
It is a highly desirable vehicle
--an FJ 45 Toyota Land Cruiser--
Picture
with hood ornamentation
Picture
that matches my yarn.

Sarah, will you sketch/stitch needlepoint this comic/story? Henry's big truck comes equipped with it's own slinky, a sketcher's dream machine!
Enjoy the ride!

Oh gee, Patti! What a fun idea. I hadn't thought of it before, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see! Thanks for the suggestion-- material right in front of my eyes.

This is so fabulous. It reminds me of my sister and brother-in-law who "liberated" a Land Rover in a similar way and restored it for their wedding, 10 years ago now. It is a worthy project. May it run again and bring much joy in the process.

Great post, May I ask that how old that "Land Cruiser" is ?

I think they decided that it was a 1963 that has been modified in various ways -- the stick shift used to be on the column, for instance, and is now on the floor.
