Rainy Tuesday

Picture
The day before yesterday I planted lettuce.
Today I hope the drippy weather
will encourage the seeds to sprout.
Picture
Planting seeds and believing they'll become food
is amazing.
Picture
"The Raft That Rolled Into The Pond" practiced outside yesterday.
So too, is learning a tune in the  hope of playing it with others,

or buying a fleece and imagining a garment.
Picture
Dirt and Sky -- my new shirt! Spindle spun wool (cormo and polworth); indigo and walnut dye.
It's even amazing when I am doing the work.
Picture
Perhaps I am easily amazed.
Picture
Juggling; mobile; hand woven tapestry; embroidery; wool; pebbles; wire; fishing swivels. (Hard to photograph something that keeps moving)
I'm certainly easily amused.

Oh for the gift of being amazed. Most of us are way too cynical for our own good. The colours of your shirt are very lovely. I can sing but not play a musical instrument. I was amazed today when my garden produced 59 saffron flowers, I was expecting 10. Apart from harvesting the stamens to flavour our food no one tells you that the flowers have the most sweet perfume. Here's to being amazed!

Is that a tapestry seed or new story hiding behind the deep green with red speckles packet? Those intent and content musician faces are pretty sweet, the naturally dyed knitted yarns and 1907 concertina are dynamic as a duet too! Love to catch a glimpse of your fiberly garden and melodic stories while up at the Palouse Fibre Festival this June!!!

Sarah, I found a new book you might like to look into. Lost in Translation by Ella Frances Sanders. They are words from other languages that cannot be translated into English. There is a Finnish word for the distance a reindeer can travel before taking a break. You have probably heard wabi-sabi. I think I remember you like words as much as I.
