Oops!
Looks like a proper blog post
is not going to happen this week.

Time — sometimes
she just vanishes--
and she takes Energy with her.
Sigh.

Have you noticed this?

That said
after all the thread and sewing machine love last week,
I can’t not leave you
with this:

and
a wee comic--
the only medium I’ve yet found
that allows me to do
all the things
at once.

Ah yes, Sarah, Time she does indeed just disappear, along with energy. I just want to say how much you and your communications, no matter how brief, really matter, and I send you caring support during these days!

Love the YouTube video, so interesting. I want to watch it again and again. Thanks
Love the comic, wish I could do multiple things all at once. Oh time how we love and hate you. Hugs.

Thank you for the wonderful video! I love the human-powered giant sewing machine! It's always a treat to read your posts, however brief.

What a fun column this morning! I have now wasted the morning watching Tim Hunkin videos. I know about sewing machines and washer machines now. What a way to learn....now to watch more of his videos. I just love your writing and your drawings. You are truly delightful. Thanks so much.

Exactly. You can do it all with a sketch!

The video is wonderful! I have been teaching my 4th graders how to sew using a running stitch and slip stitch as they made geometric quilt squares. Up on the wall is one of my quilted wall hangings and they were asking about how a sewing machine could work with only one piece of thread today! Guess what they will be watching during the next class! Thanks! (And I love ALL of your cartoons - they always make me grin!)

Such beautiful work, thank you for making it possible to see it!
I don’t know about your fancy pants American treadlie but on a Singer treadlie you can reverse stitch by moving that lever on the RHS of the body near the wheel to the bottom - the lever that sets the stitch length. Hope it works on your machine. Or swap over to the Singer treadlie (isn’t there a lot meditative about sewing with a treadlie machine? I’ve still got the one Mum got as a wedding present in 1951 but we sewed it to death as children, whipping up frocks from when we were 7. But we did have fun killing it!

Thank you for the video! I used to watch that show all the time; I’ve always wondered how the machine interlocked the stitches and now I know!
