Snow Day

2/12/2019

Picture
We're having a  thoroughly wintery week here in North Idaho--
cold and white and silent (except for the snowplows).
It is perfect weather
for the long tweedy Sarah-Dippity
I've been working on.
Except--
Picture
That I've been doing so much of this (see above)
that the skirt still looks like this (see below).

So, thought it's probably not how the internet works,
I'm going to declare today a Snow Day,
make another cup of Oolong,
and go stitch these yummy swaths
of knit and woven cloth
into something I can wear.
See you next week!

My brother who lives in the UP has run out of places to throw snow! Here in Scotland, it rains and blows and is too warm for the time of year. I believe that a Snow Day is perfectly in order. Happy sewing!

This looks like a longer skirt than the last few. It will be warm and wonderful for icky days of late.

We're having a snow day in Syracuse, NY, also. Came in with a vengeance this morning. But so beautiful. Did you knit the knitted section as a triangle or rectangle to be cut? Beautiful fabric. Enjoy your cuppa.

The knit parts were knit as triangles. No cutting except of the long woven panels! It works a treat.

I've been weaving cloth too! Oh how I love weaving on my rigid heddle loom. But somehow, mine seems crazily garish next to your lovely charcoal heathery wool yumminess. Can't wait to see the finished skirt! And oh...what about that other yummy wool you blended and began to weave into cloth for a jacket (I think that was it...?) How is it coming along?

Philadelphia, PA is having a miserable, ice on snow, stinky, stay safe inside day!

I think almost all of the northern half of the country is dealing with the white stuff! My car doors have been frozen shut...perfect excuse for a snow day (or more)! I've been weaving In all those suddenly free hours.
And speaking of weaving, have you seen the PBS program Craft in America/VISIONARIES. Reminded me of your work!.

Gosh Marilyn, frozen car doors? Yowza. That happened every time it got cold with my 30 year old car, but now my 3 year old one seems a little better. Great weaving weather, and I’m so happy to know you’re at it. Also, thank you for the heads up about to the Craft in America episode! What a thrill see that work.

How warm your new Sarah-Dippity will be! It’s only February after all. The Tularosa basin, NM is snowless though surrounded by snow capped peaks, and very very windy.

Well now that it is done, i can tell you that it IS warm. Thank goodness!

I'm still knitting my wedges. Had to make 5 samples to get one I liked. The knitting is going more slowly than I'd thought, since it's a fine yarn, size 1 needles, and a long skirt. But I'm loving the way it looks so far!

I spy knitted croissants! (The rolled up wedges.)

meanwhile in Australia we are dealing with cyclones, dust storms and bushfires. Some snow sounds really nice.
